20 Under 40 Recipients Recognized at Virtual Ceremony
Each year since 1996, twenty young community leaders receive the prestigious 20 Under 40 Award. A Leadership Recognition Program, 20 Under 40 showcases dynamic leaders from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan who are under the age of 40. The program recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in their careers and/or in the community. In addition to honoring the recipients, the program is intended to help motivate young people throughout our area to become community leaders.
This year, over 200 leaders were nominated! The judges faced the difficult task of whittling the list to twenty recipients. The names were announced at the October ceremony, which has been hosted by Chrys Peterson for 25 of the 26 years. Due to COVID-19 protocols, this year's event was held virtually via Zoom and livestreamed on BCAN.
This year's winners included some historic recipients including Carlos and Meyling Ruiz, the first brother and sister to win in the same year, and Matt and Breanne Rubin, the first husband and wife to win in the same year.
Nominations for next year’s 20 Under 40 awards are already open and will close June 30, 2022.
