UT Long-Distance Runner Places 11th at NCAA Finals and 30th at USA Finals

University of Toledo long-distance runner Janelle Noe placed 11th in the 1500m run at the NCAA Division I, Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 9, 2018. With a time of 4:20:37, Janelle is the highest-placing UT competitor at the meet since 2007.

After her performance at the finals, Janelle was awarded Second-Team All American Honors, an honor only six student-athletes achieved. She is also the first Rocket to be honored as an All-American in ten years.

Her time qualified her to compete in the USA Track and Field Championships on June 21. There, she finished 30th overall with a time of 4:25:38 in the 1500m race.

To finish out this season, Janelle was named a Distinguished Scholar-Athlete by the Mid-American Conference. This award is given to those who excel in both academics and athletics and who are chosen as “the best of the best” from each sport’s Academic All-MAC team.

It was a sweet ending to the season, as this was Janelle’s first season back after suffering second and third-degree burns in early 2016 that nearly sidelined her collegiate career.
