Walleye Hockey Receive ECHL Best Ice Award and Set Attendance Records

For the third year in a row, the Toledo Walleye have won the ECHL’s Best Ice award for the 2017-2018 season. Located at the Huntington Center, the ice surface the Walleye team play on was voted to be the best in the league by ECHL coaches.

The judges (coaches) vote based on a variety of criteria, including the temperature of the building, quality of the ice, and the surrounding dasher-board systems.

Not only did the Walleye place in the ECHL for ice quality, but their attendance broke records as well. The Walleye won first place for achieving ‘attendance capacity’, with 102%. They also placed second in average attendance per game, drawing an average of 7,578 people per game.

Some notable attendance standout statistics from the season include:

• 28 sellouts in a single season
• 13 games with an attendance of more than 8,000 people
• 273,613 total attendance for a single season.
